Six killed and 11 injured in lightning strike

Krishnagar, Jun 17 (UNI) At least six people were killed and 10 others seriously injured in lightning strikes in different areas under Ranaghat police station here today.

Police said a lightning bolt killed Ashinur Mondol and injured Bappa Seth during an ongoing football match between Habibpur and Kashinathpur here.

The injured was rushed to the Ranaghat sub-divisional hospital, where his condition was stated to be critical.

In a separate incident, Nimai Biswas and Ayeshmali were killed by lightning when they were working in the fields at Matkumara.

Besides, three people were killed and nine others injured by lightning strikes in Krishnaganj, Nabadwip and Kaliganj areas of Nadia districts, police added.
