Pleasant weather in Delhi

New Delhi, June 17 (UNI) People in the capital woke up to heavy rains accompanied by gusty winds for the third consecutive day today.

Beginning early in the morning, rain fall had already touched 22.5 mm by 0830 hours, according to the weather department. However, it progressively declined to 5.8 mm in the evening. Over more than 100 mm of rainfall has been recorded in Delhi since Friday.

The rain and cool westerly winds pushed the mercury further down to 32.6 degree and 22.7 degree as maximum and minimum temerature respectively.

Yesterday the minimum temperature was 23.5 degrees, six degrees below normal, and the maximum was 34 degrees, six degrees below normal.

What made the day pleasant today was minimum humidity staying at around 55 per cent. Yesterday the humidity was around 95 per cent and above.

Weatherman say the showers are an offshoot of south-easterly winds blowing through the capital for the last few days.

With the influence of the easterlies prevailing, more showers are expected in the coming days. The Met office has forecast a cloudy sky in Delhi during the next 24 hours with more spells of rain and thunder showers accompanied with squalls in some areas.
