NDA to announce support to Shekhawat on June 18

New Delhi, June 17: The BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) will formally announce tomorrow its support to Vice-President Bhairon Singh Shekhawat, who is slated to contest the July 19 Presidential election as an Independent candidate supported by the NDA.

The announcement is expected at a press conference by former Prime Minister A B Vajpayee, who was authorised by the BJP to work out a strategy for the Presidential election.

Mr Vajpayee today held extensive consultations with senior party colleagues and NDA leaders.

The 'Third Front,' consisting of eight political parties, will also announce its decision regarding its stand on the Presidential election at its meeting in Chennai tomorrow.
