Measures taken to check chikungunya: Health Minister
Bangalore, June 17 (UNI) Karnataka Health Minister R Ashok today admitted that chikungunya was prevalent in Mysore district and said that the government had initiated measures to check the viral disease.
Speaking to newspersons on the sidelines of a programme here he said the government had asked the district administration to make available sufficient medicine.
Blood smears had been collected from the suspected patients and sent to laboratory.
Mr Ashok said that the state government was planning to bring a bill to make it mandatory for the nurses passing out of government colleges to work for two years in government hospitals. The bill would be placed in the coming Assembly session in July, he said.
Speaking at the function Deputy Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa said the government would spend RS 150 crore during the next four years to set up trauma centres at public health centes across the state.
