MCX zinc for June delivery gains 2.14 pc at Rs 153.05 per kg

Mumbai, Jun 17 (UNI) Total turnover (single sided) of all Multi Commodity Exchange (MCX) contracts for the week ended June 14 advanced by 4.04 per cent to Rs 52,216.81 crore from the previous week's close.

MCX COMDEX at 2154.95 points was down 0.36 per cent from the previous close. MCX Agri Index closed down 0.47 per cent at 1684.45 points, MCX Energy Index at 2223.69 points was up 0.29 per cent and MCX Metal Index at 2536.95 points was down 0.88 per cent.

In the Bullion segment, MCX Gold contracts registered a turnover of Rs 12,618.54 crore. Open interest of all gold contracts was 14,179.3 kg and total volume recorded was 144,023.2 kgs. The gold August contract was down 1.01% from the previous week close at Rs 8762/10 gms.

Silver contracts clocked turnover of Rs 9950.05 crore. Open interest for all silver contracts was 564,820 kgs and total volume was 5,526,680 kgs. Silver July closed down 1.85 per cent at Rs 18330 per kg.

In the Metal segment, MCX Copper contracts across the board registered a turnover of Rs 11,702.50 crore. Open interest was 14,859 tonnes and total volume 390,273 tonnes. Copper for June delivery was up 0.74 per cent at Rs 306.1 per kg.

MCX Zinc contracts recorded a turnover of Rs 6,184.3 crore. Open interest was 27,975 tonnes and total volume 409,065 tonnes. The June contract was up 2.14 per cent at Rs 153.05 per kg.

In the Energy segment, all MCX crude oil contracts registered a turnover of Rs 6,224.76 crore. Open interest was 1,553,200 barrels and total volume of 23,062,700 barrels. The July contract was up 0.54 per cent at Rs 2782 per barrel.

Natural gas contracts recorded a turnover of Rs 191.13 crore, open interest of 1,285,000 mmbtu and total volume of 6,041,000 mmbtu. The June contract was down 0.85 per cent at Rs 316.2 per mmBTU.

Some of the other major agri-commodities traded on MCX registered the following turnover - All Mentha Oil contracts registered a turnover of Rs. 239.22 crore, open interest of 1,250.28 tonnes and total volume of 474,264 tonnes.

Mentha oil for June delivery was down 0.37 per cent at Rs 505.6 per kg.

All MCX Refined Soy Oil contracts, with open interest of 51,090 tonnes, registered a turnover of Rs 1,258.77 crore and total volume of 257,350 tonnes. The July contract was down 1.88 per cent at Rs 484.8 per 10 kg.

MCX Potato (Agra) contracts registered a turnover of Rs. 101.31 crore, open interest of 50,370 tonnes and total volume of 165,960 tonnes. The July contract was up 1.38 per cent at Rs 623.3 per quintal (100 kg).

MCX chana contracts recorded a turnover of Rs 47.36 crore, OI of 4220 tonnes and volume of 21,110 tonnes. The July contract was down 1.24 per cent at Rs 2230 per quintal.
