Kumbabishekam celebrated in TN temple

Kancheepuram, June 17 (UNI) The Kumbabishekam of Tirumalai Vayavur Prasanna Venkatesa Perumal temple, known for its ancient and historical traditions at Vedanthangal under Madurantagam circle in Kancheepuram district, was performed today.

Temple sources said Tamil Nadu Labour and Welfare Minister T M Anbarasan and MLA Gayathri Devi were among others, who participated in the function and offered prayers to the almighty. A large number of devotees gathered in the temple and worshipped the God. The temple was also addressed as 'South Tirupathi'.

The temple priests poured divine water on temple tower, amid chanting of ''Govinda, Govinda'' by devotees.

The security had been tightened under the supervision of Madurantagam Dy Police Superintendent Chandrasekhar, in view of the festival, the sources added.
