Kerala, Lakshadweep receive heavy rains

Thiruvananthapuram, June 17 (UNI) Rains occurred at most places in Kerala and Lakshadweep as the monsoon revived in the state and the Union Territory.

According to local weather office here today the maximum rainfall of 14 cm was recorded at Kollam, followed by Agati nine and Kavarathi seven.

The chief amounts of rainfall were recorded at Minicoy, Kasaragod, Irikku, Kumarakam and Vaikom four each, Kozhikode, Karipur Airport, Thodupuzha, Aluva and CIAL Kochi three each, the office said.

Isolated heavy rain was likely to occur in Lakshadweep and Kerala during the next 48 hours and rain would occur at most places in Kerala and Lakshadweep.

The fishermen were warned that strong onshore winds from Westerly direction with speed reaching 45-55 kmph likely along off Kearla coast and Lakshadweep area, the officed added.
