New Delhi, Jun 17 (UNI) The Delhi police claimed today to have solved about 24 dozen cases of theft by busting an inter-state gang of six thieves stealing electric transformers and cables.

The police also recovered from their possession two tractors with trolleys, 2 transformers, a motorcycle, two knives, tool boxes, a tube well engine, two bags of aluminium coil and one bag of copper.

The sudden spurt in cases of theft of electric transformers and cables in Najafgarh and Dwarka had made the police sit up, and a team was formed to place the whole area under vigilance.

They got a tip off yesterday about some thieves trying to dispose of stolen property in Mayapuri, following which a trap was laid. As they saw a motorcycle and a tractor approach, they stopped the vehicles and apprehended the persons identified as Dilshan, Sukhdev, Quyam, Safiq, Pawan and Tosim.

An interrogation led the team to recovery of another tractor and trolley from the residence of Safiq.
