Ex ULFA killed in Guwahati shootout
Guwahati, June 16 (UNI) A surrendered ULFA cadre was killed in a shootout in Guwahati this evening.
Police said the surrendered cadre, Rinku Choudhury, was shot dead by suspected ULFA militants near Down Town Hospital, barely hundred yards from the Dispur capital complex, at around 2015 hours.
Two suspected motorcycle borne ULFA militants fired at Choudhury's temple from point blank range while he was talking on his mobile phone while parking his car along the GS Road. He succumbed on the spot.
The deceased was among the first batch of ULFA cadres who surrendered.
Now a businessman, Choudhury was residing at Usha Court apartment in the city.
Senior police officials have rushed to the spot and search operations have been launched in and around the city to nab the militants.
The ULFA has been targeting its former cadres, suspecting they have been working as informers and spotters for security forces.
