Escaped LeT operative nabbed by police

Hyderabad, June 17 (UNI) The Lashkar-E Toiba (LeT) operative Shaik Nayeem, alias Sameer, who escaped from a police station here this morning, has been caught by the city police today.

Police said Sameer, who escaped from Mahankali police station, where he was lodged for interrogation for his alleged involvment in the sensational Mecca Masjid bomb blast on May 18, was nabbed by the police within two km from the police station.

Sameer, a resident of Jalna in Maharastra was caught by the West Bengal Police while trying to cross the border along with two Kashmiris and a Pakistani.

He is also one of the accused in Samjhauta Express blast case.

The Special Investigation Cell (SIC) brought him here to interrogate him in connection with his involvement in the Mecca Masjid blast.

He was lodged at Mahankali police station after a city court recently remanded him in police custody for five days.
