Asom CM rubbishes Sushma Swaraj's allegations

Guwahati, Jun 17 (UNI) Asom Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi today reacted sharply against BJP leader Sushma Swaraj's allegations of links of Congress with the outlawed ULFA, terming then ''false and baseless.'' ''Her allegations are totally false and baseless. She is trying to mislead the people with baseless and imaginary allegations,'' he said, responding to Ms Swaraj's allegations that the Congress had links with the proscribed ULFA at a press meet in New Delhi yesterday, as reported in a section of local media today.

The Chief Minister alleged that the BJP-led NDA government, during its tenure at the Centre, had done nothing to solve the insurgency problem in the state.

''In fact, the NDA had pulled out security forces from the state. It was due to my continual pressure that the forces were re-deployed,'' he said.

The BJP and its leaders had no right to criticise the Congress after the poor record it had, the Chief Minister added.
