Apollo introduces tele-medicine facility in Patna
Patna, Jun 17: With a view to providing the latest medicare facilities to the people of Bihar, Apollo Gleneagles Hospitals have introduced the state of the art tele-medicine facilities here so that the patients in most cases need not travel to other states for cardiac and other treatment.
Disclosing the introduction of the new facility for the first time in the state, Dr Rabin Chakraborty, Chief of Interventional Cardiology and Drirector Cath Lab, Apollo Gleneagles Hospitals, Kolkata and Dr Abrar Ahmed, Senior Spine Surgeon of the same hospital here today said with the help of the tele-medicine facility in the local pathological clinic of Apollo Gleneagles the patients suffering from all types of cardiac and other diseases could be easily diagnosed and operated upon without facing the difficulty of travelling to the far off hospitals in other states.
Further elaborating they said at an average cost of about Rs 1000 each the patients instead of going to Kolkata or Chennai could now be diagnosed for the treatment of cardiac, brain and spinal disorders through interventional procedure and surgeries, thereby reducing their proposed overall cost to a great extent.
In order to make the common people of Bihar, particularly those in Patna, more aware about the availability of the state of the art medicare facilities at their door steps, the Apollo Gleneagles Hospital authorities had decided to organise a number of healthcare campaign and road shows in different localities soon, Dr Chakraborty said and added that about 500 odd patients could be diagnosed and treated through the facility per month.
''If necessary the facilities could be widened further and introduced in far flung district headquarters to enable more patients in Bihar to enjoy the new service'',they said.
With the excellent inter-departmental coordination coupled with round-the-clock support services, the top notch consultants would be able to perform cutting edge procedures like painlerss CABGs on beating hearts, bloodless curative cancer surgeries, renal transplants and cochlear implants to help even hearing impaired patients, the doctors said and made it clear that the tele-medicine service would go a long in curing the patients at a much cheaper cost.
''Because of the geographical proximity and similarity in culture, Bihar had always been very close to our heart and thus Apollo Gleaneals had come out with the provision of latest technology for its people with personalised care,'' the doctors emphasised while elaborating the rationale behind bringing in the new facility.
