Varanasi, June 17 (UNI) The son of a prominent Madhya Pradesh-based builder, kidnapped from Jabalpur on May 26, was today found in Mughalsarai area of the neighbouring Chandauli district.

Pratik Jain, 21, was found abandoned by his captors in Dandi area -- five km from Varanasi -- SHO (Mughalsarai) Ratan Singh Yadav said here.

Mr Yadav said Pratik, a BSC student, was pushed out of an MUV near Dandi after the abductors spotted a police patrol chasing them.

On questioning, Pratik revealed that he had been kidnapped by four persons from Jabalpur when he was going to attend a friend's birthday. The abductors took the boy to their hideout in Bihar and regularly tortured him.

The accused had demanded a huge sum from Pratik's father as ransom.

Pratik's family has been informed and a police team from Jabalpur will accompany them shortly to Chandauli, Mr Yadav said.

The Jabalpur Police had announced a reward of Rs 50,000 for Pratik's safe return.

Further investigations were on and a manhunt was launched to nab the abductors.
