Panvel (Maharashtra), June 16: Taloja-based Vista Processed Foods proposes to set up a 1000 KW captive power plant at a cost of around Rs 70 lakh in the next financial year.

Vista CEO Bhupinder Singh, speaking to visiting reporters from Mumbai, rued that the entire Panvel region was plagued by frequent power cuts that was adversely affecting the industries.

Vista already has a 350 KV power generator for cold storage but the company is going to run into full capacity of food production of 8,000 tonnes per annum by March 31, 2008, necessitating the need for additional power generation.

Vista sells 75 per cent of its products to McDonald outlets and 25 per cent to other units. The company recorded a turnover of Rs 35 crore last year and expects the turnover to cross Rs 50 crore in the financial year 2007-08.

The company has installed hi-tech equipment for its chicken and vegetable processing lines, Mr Singh said.

Meanwhile, McDonald's India (West&South) managing director Amit Jatia said after launching the first restaurant in Mumbai in October 1996, the company has established over 35 world-class restaurants across Western and Southern India and plans to increase their number to 50 by the end of the year.

McDonald's India is committed to sourcing almost all of its products from within the country and, so, has developed local Indian business to supply them highest quality products for their Indian operation.
