SBI Chairman arrives in Bihar to review operations

Patna, Jun 16 (UNI) State Bank of India (SBI)Chairman O P Bhatt arrives here today on a three day maiden visit to Bihar and to review the Bank's operations in the state.

During the visit Mr Bhatt would first review the performance of SBI Patna circle branches in the city before visiting a number of districts to have similar views of rural branches in the state, particularly those in the flood prone and maoist affected areas.

He is also scheduled to call on Chief minister Nitish Kumar and his deputy Sushil Kumar Modi, who also holds the finance portfolio,to discuss the role of SBI in Bihar.

Besides, the SBI Chairman would chair a special meeting of the state level Bankers'Committee, convened here tomorrow in the wake of the state government's recent appeal to all public sector banks for more credits to rural poor and state based SSI units to help boost the industrialisation programme.

Before his departure for Mumbai on Monday Mr Bhatt would be present at the signing ceremony of a Memorandum of Understanding(MOU) between SBI and the Bihar Rural Livelyhood Promotion Society, SBI sources here today informed.

Incidentally,this was the first visit of the SBI Chairman to Bihar after assuming the top office last year.
