JIPMER Parliamentary panel to visit Pondy July 2
Puducherry,June 16(UNI) The 29-member Parliamentary Standing Committee on JIPMER under Mr Amar Singh would visit here on July two, Committee President and Former CPI (M) Secretary T Murugan said here today.
Talking to newsmen here, Mr Murugan said the committee would hear the views of doctors, medical students, employees and representatives of different political parties opposing the institution's autonomy on July three and four.
The Peoples Action Committee would take out a procession July three and submit a fresh memorandum to the committee seeking not to convert JIPMER into an autonomous institution.
Instead it would be developed under the present status itself and ensure free medical facilities to the poor here.
Mr Murugan claimed during 2005-06,the JIPMER Management had not utilised Rs 60 crore of it's allocation and surrendered the amount.
As many as 450 Group "A" and "B" posts and 680 Group "C" and "D" posts were vacant, he added.
Mr Murugan also charged Chief Minister N Rangasamy with allowing recruitment of doctors for goverment medical college here offering a salary of Rs 52,000 per month even without the consent of the UPSC to lure experienced hands from JIPMER and thereby weakening the institution.
