Indian film to be screened in British Parliament

Chandigarh, June 16 (UNI) A documentary film on the life of Maharaja Duleep Singh, produced by city-based film maker Amarjeet Singh, will be screened in the British Parliament on July three.

Mr Amarjeet Singh said he had received an invitation from Mr John McDonnel, MP and Chairperson of All Party Parliamentarian Group (APPG) House of Commons to screen the 35-minute documentary film titled 'A Monument of Injustice' on the life of Maharaja Duleep Singh.

The film has been produced by Amarjeet Singh under his home production 'Creative Vision Films'. The film was released in UK and US Last year.

The film depicts the true life story of Maharaja Duleep Singh who was the youngest son of Maharaja Ranjit Singh. The deposed Maharaja was taken away to Britain by the British when he was just 14-year-old boy and was never allowed to return to his motherland Punjab.

He lived in exile for 40 years in Britain and later died in Paris in 1893.

Amarjeet Singh claimed that this was a unique and authentic account of the Maharaja's life without any fictional element in it. It depicts the rare relics, monuments, documents, places and photographs associated with the Maharaja's life.

He said most of the shooting was done in Britain. For the first time the prized Koh-e-noor diamond and the Golden throne of Maharaja Ranjit Singh had also been screened in the film.

A number of British Parliamentarians, elite audience and international media persons would be present at the scrrenning where the producer would also present a paper on British-Sikh history.
