Cpt Hampiholi new CO of 'INS Mandovi'

Panaji, June 16: Captain M A Hampiholi of the Indian Navy took over the reins of 'INS Mandovi' as the Commanding Officer and the Commandant Naval Academy at a ceremony here today.

He took over from the outgoing Commanding officer Commodore N N Rao.

Commissioned on July 1, 1985, Captain Hampiholi had a distinguished career throughout, which began when he won the President's gold medal at the National Defence Academy (NDA). An Anti-Submarine Warfare (ASW) specialist, he had the privilege of commanding Naval ships 'Nashak' and 'Magar'.

He is an alumnus of the defence services staff college Willingdon (Tamil Nadu) and also held the prestigious appointment of Commandant, National Coast Guard at Maurituus from 2003 to 2005.

Prior to assuming command at Mandovi, Captain Hampiholi has undergone the Naval Higher command course at the College of Naval Warfare at Karanja in Mumbai.

He also inspected a guard of honour at divisions held at INS Mandovi.
