Yojna continues to be most popular Govt publication

New Delhi, June 15 (UNI) Yojna, published in 13 languages, continued to be the most popular monthly of the Publication Division of the Government.

Known for its analytical and well-researched articles, the monthly journal had a combined circulation of 1.03 lakh in 2006-07, according to the latest figures released by the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting.

By publishing 129 titles in English, Hindi and different regional languages during the period, against the target of 120 titles for the year, the Division earned a total revenue of Rs 4.12 crore.

Among these, Yojna continued its hold on subscribers, which included students, teachers, researchers and administrators, policy makers, while winning new ones.

In its series Shodh Yatra, the journal is now highlighting the technologies developed for the rural population for their welfare.

A news series called 'Do You Know' was launched in which basic facts on economic issues are analysed in layman's languages.

After Yojna, 'Kurukshetra', the dedicated journal on rural development, was the most popular with a circulation of 38,500.

Popular children's monthly in Hindi 'Bal Bharati' and the literary magazine 'Aajkal' had a monthly circulation of around 10,000 each.

The monthly average circulation of various journals brought out by the Publications Division has touched 1.61 lakh in 2006-07.

Some of the important titles released during this period were: Great Masters of Indian Cinema Dadasaheb Phalke Award Winners, 5000 years of Indian Architecture, The Story of India's Struggle for Freedom, A Career for You, Upbhokta Samrakshan Adhiniyam Aur Updhokta Adhikar, Krantikari Mahilayein, Sangeet Bachchon Ke Liye, Jalianwala Bagh etc.
