Presidential candidate:Proud moment for Indian Women,says YSR

Hyderabad, June 15 (UNI) Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy today said UPA and its Chairperson Sonia Gandhi had created history with the unanimous choice of Ms Pratibha Patil for the President's post.

Dr Reddy said, ''It is a moment of pride for Indian women. Ms Pratibha Patil's choice for Presidency is a salute to Indian women.'' He also thanked the Left Parties and other UPA allies for declaring their support to her candidature, according to an official release here.

He also extended his hearty greetings and best wishes to the Presidential-incumbent on the occasion.

Ms Patil had a remarkable public life with impeccable secular credentials and a fine understanding of the Constitution, apart from an enriched experience as a great Parliamentarian. She has served in various capacities in the organisation as well as the government, he said.

Dr Reddy said the nation would march ahead under her able guidance as President of India.
