Mumbai, June 15 (UNI) Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) Commissioner Jairaj Phatak today said he will act on the officials acquitted in the Sara-Sahara shopping complexes case after going through the court order.

On Wednesday, Maharashtra Control for Organised Crime Act (MCOCA) court acquitted 4 BMC officers -- Narendra Ramlochan Rajbhar (43), Hasmukh Pravinchandra Shah (52), Kiran Vasant Acharekar (43), Shirish Madhukar Salvekar (43) and Gulam Nabi Ramran Tanwar (60) -- of all charges levelled against them in the case.

Addressing the reporters here, Mr Phatak said ''He will act on the officials acquitted in the Sara-Sahara case after going through the court orders.'' The accused officials, who were acquitted, were in different categories of service, he said, adding, nothing can be done against the official who has crossed the retirement age.

Mr Pathak further said the increments of some of the accused officials had been stopped by the BMC and departmental inquiry was on in some of the cases.

The decision will be taken after discussion, regarding the others who have some years of service left, he added.
