AP: Music Director to recieve Ghantasala award

Vijayawada, June 15: Renowned music composer Ramana Gogula will be presented with the Ghantasala award at a function here tomorrow.

The award, instituted by the Dilip Kumar Cultural Academy (DKCA), would be presented to Gogula on the occasion of Ghantasala Vardanti, for his immense contribution to the world of film music, Academy president Dilip Kumar told UNI here.

He said though the ghantasala vardanti was performed on February 11 this year, the award is being presented now as the music director was pre-occupied.

The DKCA had been presenting the ghantasala awards twice a year (once during the late ghantasala's jayanthi and another during his vardanti) for the past nine years to noted film playback singers and music directors.

Previous receipients of the award, included Mano, Koti, Mani Sarma, Ghantada Krishna, R P Patnaik, Devisri Prasad, P Suseela and M S Viswanathan.

A musical nite would be organised at the Ghantasala Music and Dance College here where the award would be presented, he added.
