Mukherjee to discuss 'Look East Policy' in Shillong

Shillong, Jun 15: External Affairs Minister Pranab Mukherjee will arrive here tomorrow ahead of his visit to Indonesia and Singapore.

Mr Mukherjee's day-long visit to Meghalaya was aimed at emphasising the benefits of India's 'Look East Policy' for people of the region. The Union Minister would deliver a key-note address on ''Geography as Opportunity'' and underline the geographical contiguity of the North East with the Association of South East Asian Nations (ASEAN) countries.

The Union Minister's trip to Shillong is part of the ministry's public diplomacy drive and is aimed at explaining to the people the impact of foreign policy initiatives on the lives of the populace, a senior MEA official told UNI
