Kannada Rajni fans receive 'Sivaji' amidst tight security

Bangalore, June 15 (UNI) Pouring milk on Superstar Rajnikant's cutouts, decorating theatres with mango leaves, and slogan shouting saw the colourful release of the multi-crore film 'Sivaji, the Boss' across Karnataka today, amidst tight security arrangements following the protest call by the Kannada Rakshana Vedike.

In Bellary, pro-Kannada organisation activitsts tried to prevent the screening of the film. However, police intervened and held about 50 activists.

In Bangalore city, tight security was maintained by posting a sizeable number of police in front of the ten theatres and three multi-plexes where the film was released. No untoward incident was reported till noon, police sources told UNI.

Black-marketeers had a field day with tickets being sold at Rs 400 to Rs 1,000. The theatres screening the film wore a festive look and despite full house boards hanging on the gates, a large number of Rajni fans were seen standing in front of the theatres a celebrating the occasion.

Reacting to the protest by pro-Kannada activists, former Karnataka Film Chamber President Gangaraju appealed for the withdrawal of the agitation stating that the film was released as per norms and there in all ten prints were released in Karnataka.
