India, Russia revise air services pact

New Delhi, June 15 (UNI) India and Russia have agreed to increase weekly flight frequencies from 46 to 52 for both sides, a government official said today.

The increase in flights will be to Ahmedabad and Amritsar. Each city will get three additional flights from Russia.

Designated airlines from both countries will continue to be permitted for flying over each other's territory, the official said.

The talks concluded yesterday in Moscow with Indian delegation being led by joint secretary at the ministry of civil aviation R K Singh and his counterpart G Loschenov, who is chief negotiator at the Russian department of state policy in civil aviation.

At present, Russian national airline Aeroflot operates regular flights to Delhi and Mumbai. Besides, Transaero airline operates flights to Goa and Amritsar.

Recently, Russian aviation officials were creating problems for for Air India and Jet Airways to overfly their territory.
