New Delhi, Jun 15 (UNI) All India Gujjar Sangharsh Samiti today filed a writ petition in the Supreme Court seeking CBI inquiry into the Rajasthan police firing in which eight people, including a minor girl, were killed during the agitation by the community demanding ST status.

The petition has also alleged that 1,000 Gujjars were injured in police actions during the agitation and till date no action has been taken against any police official or member of a particular community in the state for instigating violence against Gujjars.

The petitioner has demanded a compensation of RS. ten lakh each for the dead and RS. one lakh each for the injured.

The petitioner has demanded CBI probe on the grounds that since Rajasthan police officials and some powerful leaders of a particular community were responsible for the death of the Gujjars, free and fair inquiry is not possible till the investigation is handed over to an independent agency like CBI.
