Choti Losal village hopes for better days with Patil as president

Choti Losal, Sikar, June 15 (UNI) The small, dusty village of Choti Losal in Sikar district, which is UPA presidential nominee Pratibha Patil husband's native place, is rejoicing over her candidature, and now hoping that village will soon get a VIP makeover.

Mrs Patil visited the village thrice after she became the Governor of Rajasthan. Now villagers are hoping that she would definitely visit the place after she becomes President.

They hope that the village, 50 km from Sikar town, would see better days and development soon with their ''daughter-in-law'' adorning the country's highest constitutional post.

Choti Losal is Mrs Patil's husband Devi Singh Shekhawat's native village, where she had come after being married. The haveli where she first came as newly married bride still stands today.

It seems that the festival of colours-- Holi-- has arrived in this village. Happy and smiling villagers are smearing each other with gulal, happy that the country's first woman president would be oneassociated with their native village.

In this new age, the mode of celebration has turned modern with youths dancing to disco beats. Groups of women are singing congratulatory songs and have also lit lamps. The rejoicing started last evening as soon as the news spread, continuing today with the national media descending here to capture the joyous mood.
