BJP Government in Uttarakhand celebrates 100 days in power
Dehra Dun, June 15 (UNI) The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Government in Uttarakhand, led by Chief Minister Maj Gen (Retd) Bhuvan Chandra Khanduri, celebrated 100th day in the power statewide today.
Addresssing a celebration function here Maj Gen Khanduri said, ''Though 100 days are not sufficient to judge any government of its credibility, still it was sufficient time for anybody to see which direction the government was going to''. The biggest responsibility on the Government was to fulfill the promises made in its election manifesto and mould the state in accordance to the dreams of the state people for which the seperate state was formed, he added.
The Chief Minister also released a booklet titled 'Sarkar ke 100 Din, Nayee Asha-Naya Vishwas' (100 days of the Government: New Hopes, New Belief) containing the 17-point achievements of the BJP Government.
''My government is honestly pursuing to fulfill those dreams and take the state towards prosperity and develop it as a model state in the country,'' he asserted. The public support in the development of the state was must and the BJP government has been able to fulfill its promise: 'Janta ki Sarkar, Janta ke Durbar' by maintaining direct contact with them through 'Junta Durbars', the Chief Minister said. It was his government's further endeavour to decentralise the administration and constitute a village level Secretariat in every Block so that the public grievances could be resolved then and there, he added.
''Till the development reaches every door in the state, it cannot claim to have fully developed,'' Maj Gen Khanduri said. The BJP government has taken over the state, deep in the debt, and one of its challenges was to take it out of it, he added.
''We are trying to enhance financial status of the state by following strict financial discipline and frugality,'' he said.
Pointing towards the step taken in this regard,Maj Gen Khanduri said 103 vehicles provided to the Chairmen of various Committees, Corporations and Authorities on rent, have been withdrawn, thus saving Rs 17 crore in five years. Out of 365 Gunners provided to various persons costing Rs five crore to the state exchequer every year, 194 Gunners had been withdrawn,leading to a benefit to the tune of Rs 2.5 crore, he said, adding that the government has reduced the numbers of government advocates from 54 to 18 which would enable savings of Rs 5.5 crore in five years. Earlier the government was expending Rs nine crore for 54 advocates.
The list of other key achievments of the BJP government in its 100-day tenure included release of 6615 workers out of total 8318 of Uttar Pradesh cadre, a transparent recruitment process, transparent transfer policy, curtailment in uncontrolled land transactions, immediate relief in road accidents, setting up of Public Grievances Cell and implementation of an effective excise policy.
Meanwhile, the BJP district units celebrated the occasion at their respective Headquarters all over the state. The party workers were urged to take the government's achivements to every door in their respective areas.
