APCC hails Sonia Gandhi for nominating woman Prez candidate

Hyderabad, June 15 (UNI) The Andhra Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) today hailed AICC President Sonia Gandhi, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and UPA allies for nominating Rajasthan Governor Pratibha Patil as its presidential candidate.

According to a press release here, APCC Spokesperson N Tulasi Reddy said the selection of Ms Patil showed the Congress's commitment of empowerment of women.

Observing that it was one of the 'historical decisions' of the Congress he said ''Ms Patil is a multi-faceted personality who symbolises Indian culture and tradition.'' UNI
