32 school children injured in highway accident

Tamluk(East Midnapore), Jun 15 (UNI) Altogether 32 children and a school bus driver were injured today when a gas tanker hit a nursery school bus at Fatepur bus stop near Sreedharpur more over National Highway 41.

A total of 30 children had been admitted at Tamluk sadar hospital, while six who were seriously injured had been referred to a Kolkata hospital for better treatment.

All the students were coming from nearby villages of Karak and Madhabpur for attending classes at Nandakumar bazaar Vivekananda Shishu Niketan.

Several children received head injuries. All the admitted children were aged below five years.

Jit Kuila, Adity Chakraborty, Somnath Khatua, Saikat Bera, Sikha Pari, Buddhadev Bhunia were the six children who had been referred to Kolkata with serious, doctors informed.

Nandakumar Bazar police seized the vehicle tanker.
