TN Govt for medical college in every dist: Minister
Chennai, June 14 (UNI) The Tamil Nadu Government is making efforts to set up medical colleges in every district to provide healthcare to all the people, Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments Minister K R Periakaruppan said today.
Inaugurating the third blood donation programme, jointly organised by city-based Aalim Muhammed Salegh College of Paramedical Sciences and the Tamil Nadu branch of the Indian Red Cross Society here, he hailed the efforts of the college for successfully organising blood donation camp for the third year in succession to celeberate World Blood Donor's Day and wanted such efforts to continue.
Speaking on the occassion, College Founder and Chairman S M Shaik Nuruddin said they proposed to start a nursing and teacher training college in the near future.
College Secretary and Correspondent S Segu Jamaludeen said over 100 students donated blood at the camp today.
He said the Aalim Muhammed Salegh Trust and Aalim Muhammed Salegh group of educational institutions have proposed to set up a community hospital at an estimated cost of Rs five crore in Tiruvallur district to serve the rural poor. They were contemplating to set up a world class medical college shortly, he added.
