Tata Indicom offers free calling card, colour handsets @ Rs 1,499

New Delhi, June 14 (UNI) Expanding its portfolio of low-cost handsets, Tata Indicom today launched a new range of colour mobile phones at Rs 1,499 onwards and introduced 'Freedom Call Voucher' worth Rs 325, for unlimited free outgoing calls to any local Tata (fixed and mobile) phones.

The three handsets -- Huawei C2285, Haier D1200 and Kyocera Topaz -- are priced at Rs 1,499, Rs 1,799 and Rs 1,999 respectively.

The phones will be available with the Rs 299 'Go Active Regular Starter Pack', providing free incoming facility for a year and 1,000 minutes of free Tata to Tata calls valid for six months.

The new unlimited plan, launched in all circles, is valid for one month and gives Rs 150 talktime for other calls. Local mobile call to any other network and fixed line is Rs 0.49 and Rs 0.99 respectively.

''Being affordable, our latest offering will change the whole scenario of the telecom market. We expect to get our undue market share,'' Tata Teleservices Ltd President (Consumer Business) Naresh Malhan told newspersons here.

Tata Indicom is the first mobile service provider in the country to offer free unlimited local calls at this price point, he added.

''We will continue to introduce innovative products like these to enhance value preposition for our prepaid customers,'' Dr Malhan said.

Tata Indicom at present has 17.1 million subscribers across the country, according to the recent data issued by the Cellular Operators of India.

''The pre-paid mobile segment constitutes 92 per cent of incremental mobile market share, and we are certain that this initiative will help us further increase revenues and consolidate Tata Indicom's market leadership position,'' Dr Malhan said.
