Punjab Police gets production warrants against Chahal

Patiala, June 14 (UNI) The Punjab Police today obtained production warrants against B I S Chahal, the high profile media advisor to former chief minister Capt Amarinder Singh, in a forgery and cheating case.

The warrants were issued by Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate (ACJM) K K Karulia after the District Attorney approached the court with details of the case.

Chahal was booked yesterday for forgery and cheating on the complaint of Jagatjit Singh, owner of Bhagat Motors in Patiala.

Jagatjit Singh in his complaint to the police has alleged that Chahal 'borrowed' a Mercedes Benz in 2005 from his showroom but never returned the vehicle nor pay its price. Chahal later got the vehicle registered in his own name on the basis of fake papers.

The case was registered under Sections 384, 406, 420, 467, 468 and 471 of the IPC against Chahal at the Civil Lines police station.

A police party will be leaving for Ludhiana tomorrow to get Chahal, who was sent to 14 days judicial custody today by a court there in a land grabbing case.

The local police had yesterday evening registered another case at the Kotwali police station against Chahal under sections 420, 405 and 406 on the complaint of Kanwarjit Singh, proprietor of Commando Caterers in Mohali.

The complaint pertained to Chahal getting his kitchen at his residence here renovated and fitted with the latest cooking gadgets. The complainant alleged that the bill of Rs 15 lakh incured for the kitchen was not paid by Chahal.
