Presidential poll contest between son of soil and daughter-in-law
Jaipur, June 14 (UNI) If all goes on the expected lines, then the presidential election scheduled for next month will virtually turn into a contest between a son of soil and a daughter-in-law of Shekhawati in Rajasthan.
While Rajasthan Governor Pratibha Patil, who has been nominated by the ruling UPA for the top post of the country, is married in a family of Shekhawat clan in Chhoti Losal village of Shekhawati Region in Sikar district, her prospective rival Vice-President Bhairon Singh Shekhawat also hails from the same district of Shekhawati region.
Mr Shekhawat, a former Chief Minister of Rajasthan, hails from Khachariyawas village in Sikar district.
If Mr Shekhawat finally enters in the fray as NDA-supported Independent or otherwise, Rajasthan at a large and Shekhawati region in particular would have nothing to lose in presidential polls. It will have reasons to celebrate the election result in the win of either of the two contestants.
