Pratibha Patil to accord higher priority to pro poor agenda

Jaipur, Jun 14 (UNI) Rajasthan Governor and UPA nominee for the Presidential election Mrs Pratibha Patil said that on bieng elected to the post she would like to ensure implementation of pro poor agenda.

Talking to mediapersons at the Raj Bhawan here this evening Mrs Patil expressed satisfaction over the ongoing process of economic growth in the country.

She however, said that economic disparity between poor and rich was to be addresssed and poor welfare programmes needed to be speeded up.

She said if elected to the highest post she would like to ensure that welfare programmes and schemes for people below the povery line(BPL) were accorded higher priority.

She praised UPA Government for implementation of Rural Employment Guarantee Programme and said she would like to see extention of the programme in all districts of the country.

There was very tough competition among various countries of the world and she wished to see India winning its due place, Mrs Pratibha said.
