KMC directs Health Dept to take action to avoid spread of disease

Kolhapur, June 14 (UNI) The Kolhapur Municipal Corporation (KMC) today directed its health department to take necessary action to avoid spread of chikungunya disease in the city following its outbreak in some villages of the district.

Top KMC officials discussed the issue in a meeting held today and issued necessary directives to health department for immediate action.

KMC deputy commissioner Ganesh Deshmukh told the meeting that necessary manpower, materials and medicine will be provided to avoid any spread of the disease in the city, which was presided by Standing Committee chairman Sambhaji Jadhav, sources said.

Some 22 positive cases were reported from some villages in the district. Zilla parishad and district administration have undertaken a campaign to stop the spread of the viral disease, ZP sources said.
