Hero Cycles launches electric two-wheelers in Gujarat
Ahmedabad, June 14 (UNI) Hero Cycles, in collaboration with UK-based Ultra Motor Company, launched its new range of Hero Electric-Ultra two wheelers here today.
Speaking at the launch, Hero Exports managing director Vijay Munjal said the electric two-wheeler category is at a nascent stage today and the company would make every effort to realise its full potential.
He informed the Company has already launched these vehicles in Delhi, Punjab, Haryana, Rajasthan, and western Uttar Pradesh and were now entering the West with their first launch in Ahmedabad. The new vehicles will have seven variants of E-bikes and E-scooters and will be priced between Rs 14,300 to Rs 28,000 depending upon the models.
''We have signed a technical collaboration-cum-joint marketing agreement with Ultra Motor to produce and jointly market this new range of low speed electric two-wheelers in India and plan to expand the dealer network in all major centres across the country by March 2008.
Low running cost will be the major catalyst for these environment-friendly vehicles, he said and adding that these E-bikes and E-scooters run at 1/10th of the running cost of conventional petrol driven two-wheelers and have 1/3rd of maintenance cost. A single charge can last between 45 kms and 70 kms depending upon the models and the running cost of these vehicles are worked out to be ten paise per km.
