NLFT militant escapes from Tripura police vehicle

Agartala, June 14: A hardcore National Liberation Front of Tripura (NLFT) militant today escaped from the police vehicle on the way to a hospital in Ambassa of North Tripura.

Police said Maniram Tripura (28) was brought to the Kulai Civil Hospital for treatment but escaped while getting down from the police vehicle.

He was arrested on June six for attacking BSF personnel and snatching arms in remote Raishyabari area. BSF Jawan Dinabandhu Pal was killed in the scuffle. Maniram was produced before the district court and sent in police custody.

Superintendent of Police, Dhalai district, Anish Prasad said security forces had launched a massive hunt to nab Maniram.
