Four gets lifer for murdering newly-wed young woman

Kolhapur, June 14 (UNI) A fast track court at Ichalkaranji today sentenced four members of a family to life imprisonment for murdering a newly-married young woman last year in a dowry case.

Fast track court judge P D Sankapal found Anil Nule, his father Appasaheb, his mother Indu and his sister Geeta alias Sudha Patil guilty of torturing and murdering Anil's wife Laxmi and awarded the sentence. They were held guilty under sections 302, 498, 201 of Indian Penal Code (IPC).

Anil, a resident of Hupari in the district, was married to Laxmi.

All the four used to torture Laxmi and demand money from her parents.

On October 15 last year, they murdered Laxmi and threw her body in a nearby well, leading to their arrest, according to prosecution.
