Ranchi, Jun 14 (UNI) The Jharkhand High court today directed the state government to file status report by next week regarding constitution of juvenile justice boards in the remaining districts of the state.

A division bench comprising Chief Justice Muthuswamy Karpagayavinayagam and Justice Narendra Nath Tiwary passed the order while hearing a Public Interest litigation filed by Bal Sakha, a non government organisation.

Delip Jerath, appearing on behalf of the petitioner, told the court that there were no after care homes for children who are released from the rehabilitation centre.

Mr Jerath further informed the court that the basic motive for constituting juvenile board and children's after care home and other shelter centre for the children was to bring those children, who were in the rehabilitation centre, into the mainstream.

The Ranchi juvenile center offers course till class V and Deoghar till class VIII.

The state welfare department should provide such facility for the children who were in the probation home so that they became good citizens of India, the pleader contended.

The court after hearing directed the welfare secretary to file status report in this connection by next week.
