Chikungunya in Sinduvalli village
Mysore, June 14 (UNI) Even as the district administration had stepped up the medical attention for the suspected Chikungunya disease in few villages on the outskirts of the City, fresh cases have been reported in the Sinduvalli village on Mysore-Nanjangud road.
The Primary Health Centre Doctor Nagarthana told UNI that so far nearly 120 cases have been reported during the surveillance in the village which has a population of nearly 7,000. Samples of the blood have been sent to the hospitals for testing. Drinking water supplied to the village might be severely contaminated and drainage water mixed with them following the damage of pipes may be the reasons.
She said that initially it was suspected to be malaria or dengue however, the symptoms were different. A camp office has been opened in the village for testing the new patients.
Meanwhile one 40 year old woman Sakamma was died of heart attack today. However, the Doctors ruled out the death was due to any disease. The postmortem report confirmed that she died of heart attack. But the villagers claimed that she died due to disease.
In the meantime the medical attention in the Pushpagiri village where more then 1,000 have been affected suspected Chikungunya like disease.
Doctors, anganwadi workers and social workers have been pressed into service. Medicines have been dispatched to the local hospitals from the district centre. The blood tests would be done at the camps and the results made available on the spot.
Officials have assured that treatment would be provided free of cost to the patients, the medicines would be supplied to them until they completely recover from the disease.
