New Delhi, June 14 (UNI) Expressing concern over what it described as "pathetic" conditions of health services provided by the Delhi Government, the Delhi BJP today stressed the need to take immediate steps to improve it before the condition goes out of control.

Talking to mediapersons here, Delhi Pradesh BJP President Harsh Vardhan said according to a recent survey, about 18 thousand major and minor operations were done last year in Lok Nayak Hospital, G B Pant Hospital and the Guru Nanak Eye Hospital out of which in about one third cases the patients were infected. Due to this, many patients had to undergo surgery for the second time and some for the third time.

''When the condition of these prestigious hospitals of Delhi is such then the condition of other hospitals can be easily imagined.

The CAG has in its report expressed its grave displeasure on the health services of Delhi,''he said.

Dr Harsh Vardhan said when the condition of health services was such in normal times then what will be the condition in emergency can easily be imagined.

He said the cases of malaria and cholera were constantly increasing, but separate arrangements had not been made in the hospitals for it.

''Cases of Chikungunia have also been reported,''he said.
