New Delhi, June 14 (UNI) For the second consecutive day, Delhiites experienced acutely humid conditions even as the South Easterlies continued to bring respite from the heat wave since the beginning of June.

Though humidity levels continued to hover at a high of 81 per cent, South Easterly winds led to a fall in maximum temperature to 38.4 degrees Celsius, from 39.8 degrees yesterday.

Weatherman said the influence of Easterly winds could, in the next few days, lead to pre-monsoon showers in Delhi.

Weather officials have forecast rain or thundershowers in the National Capital and other parts of Northwest India like Uttarakhand, West Uttar Pradesh, Himachal Pradesh, Punjab, Haryana and Chandigarh during the next two to three days. They have also forecast thundersqualls in these areas during the same period.

In fact, the BBC has forecast some heavy showers in Delhi by the weekend under the influence of the Easterlies.

The South Easterlies also led to a drop in minimum temperature to 28.4 degrees, two degrees below normal.

The weather office has forecast a partly cloudy sky in Delhi during the next 24 hours with possibility of rain or thundershowers.

They have also forecast a drop in maximum temperature to 37 degrees tomorrow.
