2 killed, 9 injured in SSB firing in Bihar

Motihari, June 14(UNI) Two people were killed and nine injured, when Seema Shashastra Bal(SSB)jawans opened fire on a violent mob at Agarwa village in East Champaran district today.

Official sources said the villagers were furious over the alleged sodomy on a minor son of a local farmer by a SSB jawan.

When the enraged villagers started demonstrating near the camp protesting against the incident demanding stern action against the guilty jawan, members of the nearby SSB camp tried to persuade them.

But when they refused to budge, jawans opend fire to disperse the mob killing one villager on the spot and injuring ten others. Later one of the injured succumbed to his injuries on way to hospital taking the death toll to two.

All the injured were admitted to hospitals in Ghorasahan and Motihari where the five were in critical condition, sources added.

Meanwhile, the situation was 'tense but under control'. The District magistrate and police superintendent were camping at the site.
