Two doctors nabbed for helping Kandhal flee from police costody

Rajkot, June 13 (UNI) Two city-based Doctors have been arrested for their alleged involvement in Kandhal Jadeja's escape from police custody at a private hospital here on February 6, where he had been admitted following a spine-related complication.

According to police sources, doctors -- Sunil Popat and Tushar Shah -- were arrested last night. They had allegedly misled the police and also done alteration with records in the hospital where the eldest son of Godmother Santokben Jadeja, Kandhal was admitted.

After collecting sufficient evidence against doctors, the police arrested them under sections 224, 225, 468, 471 and 120 (B) of Indian Penal Code (IPC).

Four policemen who had been on duty at the hospital where Kandhal was admitted, were suspended for dereliction in duty.

Following Kandhal Jadeja's escape from police custody on February 6, it has been revealed that he used to move out often when admitted for treatment at various hospitals.

Accused in the Keshu Odedara murder case in Porbandar, Kandhal was shifted from Sabarmati Jail to Rajkot District Jail on January 26, 2006. He was lodged at Sabarmati Jail since March 2005, after he was arrested in connection with Odedara murder case.

Keshu Odedara was killed on March 1, 2005.

The accused (doctors) will be produced before the court in the evening for their remand, police added.
