Top officials of Nagaland meet in Asom

Guwahati, June 13 (UNI) Top officials of Nagaland met at Jorhat in upper Asom to review the current ceasefire with the NSCN.

This is the first meeting of the 'Peace Monitoring Committee' of Nagaland to be held outside the state.

Though no official statement was made after the meeting held last evening at a hotel in the upper Asom town neighbouring Mukokchung district, it was learnt that the Nagaland Home Secretary chaired the meeting which was also attended by the NSCN(K) leadership.

The Nagaland DGP and top officials of Asom Rifles were also present.

The officials reviewed the implementation of the ceasefire agreement with the NSCN factions.

The meeting comes in the backdrop of the recurring incidents of violence resulting from the rift between the two NSCN factions.
