Swamy criticises AP's quota in jobs for Muslims
Chennai, Jun 13: Dr Swamy criticised the Andhra Pradesh government's decision to provide reservation to Muslims in government jobs.
Muslims were not victims of any imposed social disabilities that require Reservation in jobs to them, he claimed, adding in fact, they were the ruling classes of India for 800 years during which they imposed disabilities on Hindus like forced labour('dhimmi'status) and differential taxation ('jazia').
Instead of Reservation, Muslims must seek equal opportunity to quality education, he pointed out.
Janata Party President Dr Subramanian Swamy also asked the defence ministry to review the present alignment of the Sethusamudram canal project.
Talking to newspersons here, he said he had submitted a letter to this effect to Defence Minister A K Antony after coming to know from Defence officials that the present alignment chosen by the UPA government at the Centre, which necessitated destruction of 'Rama Sethu' bridge, was not cleared for national security by the Indian Navy.
He also criticised the Tamil Nadu government for screening the film on rationalist leader ''Periyar'', in schools. He alleged that the film had some ''pornographic'' dialogues and they should be edited before the film is screened in schools.
