Punjab offers subsidies to co-operatives for agro-machinery
Chandigarh, June 13 (UNI) Punjab government today decided to provide subsidies for the purchase of agricultural machinery by the co-operative societies of the state.
The proposal would make these co-operative societies self-sustainable and economically viable and also reduce the burden of over capitalisation in the agriculture sector, Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal said at a meeting to review the rural indebtedness this morning.
He said that farmers would be able to hire the services of these co-operative societies for the tilling and levelling of their land by making nominal payment to the societies instead of buying expensive equipment themselves.
