Chandigarh, June 13 (UNI) The Punjab Government today decided to allow surety bonds on property of the weaker sections within the 'Lal dora' (in villages) in the state as proof of ownership of property.

This decision has been taken under section 107,151 of the CrPC.

The government has already issued detailed guidelines to all the District Magistrate or Executive Magistrates to accept the verification of these properties by local 'Lambardars' as valid documents for the purpose.

The verification, if any, could be made by spot inquiries but that should be done only in rare cases only.

Disclosing this here today, an official spokesman said that as per practice, the surety bonds under section 107, 151 CrPC were presented before an Executive Magistrate, duly signed and attested by a 'Lambardar' of the village. He said that it was a matter of common experience that these surety bonds were generally accepted as such by the Executive Magistrate, except in few cases where verification about the description of the property mentioned in the surety bond was made through the revenue agency.
