Jabalpur, Jun 13 (UNI) Political and economic proposals were passed and the outline of future programmes chalked out at the BJP Madhya Pradesh Working Committee's two-day meeting that concluded here today.

Briefing media this evening, the BJP's state unit general secretaries Nandkumar Chouhan and Faggan Singh Kulaste said the economic proposal claimed that the state's development rate was enhanced by the saffron party regime's work over the past three years.

The government paid ''special attention'' to adequate utilisation of Narmada water and scored ''achievements'' in power and irrigation sectors. The Indira Sagar Project is yielding 1,000 MW and its Omkareshwar counterpart will soon generate 520 MW. The Narmada Valley Project has attained the capacity to irrigate 67,600 ha.

Roads were improved and water supply ensured.

The number of domestic and foreign tourists witnessed a ''spurt'' and several welfare schemes were initiated for better health facilities for the poor, tribals and other segments.

''Vikas (development) yatras will be organised across the state.

The Committee resolved to make the party stronger under the leadership of state President Narendra Singh Tomar. The workers will inform the public about the Centre's failures. New Delhi is not supplying adequate chemical fertiliser to Madhya Pradesh,'' Mr Chouhan alleged while denying that the Shivpuri assembly bypoll defeat was discussed.

He claimed that more than 10,000 votes obtained by the Uma Bharti-founded Bharatiya Janshakti's candidate was not a reason for the loss.

''BJP workers are not feeling neglected by the state ministers' style of functioning,'' Mr Chouhan added.
